Could teeth whitening turn back the hands of time on your smile?

Stubborn dental stains can leave you feeling embarrassed and downright defeated when it comes to having the perfect smile. Maybe you’ve tried a variety of whitening toothpastes but no commercial product seems to give you the results you want. If you are looking for a dramatic change then it’s time to talk to Dr. Michelle Mottinger about professional teeth whitening.Teeth Whitening

Why are my teeth stained?

There are so many reasons why a smile can go from vibrant to flat over the years. Here are some of the most common causes:

Foods/drinks

If you love your morning cup of coffee or you enjoy a glass of red wine each night then you may be dealing with more set-in dental stains than those who don’t consume as many stain-producing foods and drinks. How does this happen, exactly? The bright pigments (known as chromogens) from these consumables attach themselves to the enamel, causing your teeth to appear darker.

Tobacco

Nothing seems more stubborn than tobacco stains. Tar and nicotine come together to produce some pretty tough, unsightly discolorations on the surface of your teeth. If you are dealing with the classic yellow smile because of smoking then it’s time you turned to your dentist for a whitening treatment.

Age

Unfortunately, one of the natural parts of aging is that the outer layer of enamel starts to thin away over time. This means that more of the yellowish layer of dentin shows through the enamel. Direct trauma to a tooth or even taking certain medications like high blood pressure medications or antihistamines can leave you with some darkened teeth.

How does teeth whitening work?

This cosmetic procedure contains either one of two popular kinds of bleach (either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide). When our professional, high-quality bleaching gel is applied to the teeth the bleach immediately works to break up stains under the many layers of enamel. Our gels are the strongest on the market and you certainly won’t find anything like this in any retail products. Think about this—you could get a smile that’s up to eight shades brighter in just a few treatments.

Let us help you obtain a more vibrant smile!
